BlueGhozt LITE Smart LED Controller

The Blueghozt Lite Smart LED Controller is far easier to install compared to the original Ghozt modules. Connectors are included which plug and play with many off-the-shelf addressable RGB LED kits. Screw terminals are included on the board for solder-less connections.

Features

  • Blueghozt 2.0 has FIVE(5) 12v inputs, for a left turn, right turn, park, brake, and reverse! (1.0 is missing Reverse)
  • Four 12v outputs for controlling 12v accessories (PLUS only)
  • Controls two chains of addressable LEDs up to 425 each! (350 for RGBW)
  • Fully configurable through Bluetooth with our iOS/Android app!
  • New features are delivered over the air through our app updates!
  • Sequential turn signals
  • F1-style braking
  • Parking/running lights animations
  • Reverse lights control
  • Showmodes triggered via Bluetooth or EXT input
  • One module can control both driver/passenger side turn signals!
  • Unlimited fully customizable showmodes can be saved with our app
  • Automatically adjustable turn signal timing to car’s flasher unit
  • Very low power drain while in operation, sleep mode when idle
  • Small form factor!
  • Includes a protective plastic housing!

Minimal experience with retrofitting, soldering, and working with LEDs/resistors recommended. You’ll need to provide some extra wiring to reach your drl & turn signal wires, along with some wires to extend off the power converter for easier installation. Headlight/taillight in most cases must be opened to gain direct access to install LEDs. LEDs, headlights, and taillights are all sold separately.

Compatibility

  • 5V or 12V versions of addressable LEDs.
  • WS2812b and SK6812(rgb/w) Chips
  • Blueghozt easily integrates with OEM functions such as parking lights, turn signals, and brake lights

Addons

Extension Wires: Use these extensions to make the installation & location of your controller MUCH easier. You won’t be limited to the length of the wire coming out of the headlight.

Pre-wired & Waterproofed: We solder your power, turn signal & DRL (and other) wires directly to your control board, preventing any accidents such as the terminal screws coming loose. Select your desired trigger wiring you’d like included. Our waterproofing dries HARD, and your controller will be UNSERVICABLE. Any failures will require a complete replacement.

Bare Controller: Select this option if you’d like your controller shipped WITHOUT the green screw terminal connections attached. You will be required to solder your wires directly to the board, or add the terminals (supplied) by yourself. Only available on Lite controllers.

GT Inline Capacitors: In our attempts to improve reliability, we have found that voltage spikes do not play nicely with 5V LEDs. So we created our inline GT Inline Capacitors that also have a resistor on the data line to do everything we can to prevent voltage spikes in any form.

3oz Dielectric Grease: If you are using the supplied JST plug connections, they are susceptible to the elements and MUST be protected to ensure your warranty, this is one of the easiest ways to do so, along with heat shrink.

Wiring Kit: Use our wiring kit for an easy way to get your Blueghozt up and running. Includes 2 x 2 meter & 1 x 2 meters of sheathed wiring for your turn signal & DRL inputs.

Blueghozt Controller Guide

Ghozt Lighting x GTA Retrofits

This guide assumes a few things, such as the fact that GTA Retrofits was the one to retrofit your headlights, however anyone can use the guide to get familiar with the app. This guide is built on GTA Retrofits pre-programming your headlights specific led configuration into the controller. The headlight specific settings are saved on the controller, while settings such as start-up, shutdown, and show mode animations, as saved to your phone. Although it’s only happened once, it might be a good idea to screenshot the LED configuration screen just in case it gets deleted by  mistake.

Components

  1. Battery Post Connections. Your Blueghozt controller is designed to be hooked directly to your battery to allow you to show off your headlights even when your car is off. A direct connection is suitable for almost everybody who drives their car daily. For those of you that drive only on weekends or to shows, it is important to note that addressable LEDs (which your strips/halos are) themselves have a power drain. Although very small, over time it may be enough to drain your battery. So for those infrequent drivers, we recommend installing a shut off switch (not included), between the inline fuse, and the power converter, on the positive wire. It could be located in your engine bay or run into your cabin in a discrete location. Turn off when parking your car for a known longer period (3+ days), and back on when you’re ready to go. Alternatively….just pull the inline fuse.
  2. Power Converter. This component drops the power from 12v down to 5v, which is what these LEDs use. Attempting to bypass this will instantly kill the LEDs in your headlight and would void your warranty. This is a non serviceable item.
  3. Blueghozt Controller. Your Blueghozt controller has been fully potted (waterproofed) by GTA Retrofits. However, we’d really prefer it if you didn’t drive it through a lake. You should also take care to install it as far away from heat sources, aka your engine, and also its moving parts.
  4. GT Inline Capacitors. These were designed to help absorb voltage spikes caused when turning on your car, or alternators kicking in, they are also waterproof, but should be treated the same as the controller. 5. 12V Signal Inputs. These are used to tell the controller (and therefor LEDs) when to turn on a particular hardwired function such as your DRL (and start up/shut down animation) and turn signals. You can tap these into your OEM DRL wire or purchase an “add a fuse” circuit from Canadian Tire to tap into an always on fuse (IE fuel pump). GTA Retrofits does their best to locate and highlights the OEM turn signal wire, and if it’s internal, we run a yellow wire outside of the headlight for your to tap in to for easy installation.
  5. Blueghozt Outputs. These are what plugs in to your headlights. They have been colour coded to match the 12v Signal Inputs, the red turn signal input should be attached to the same wire as the red Blueghozt output wire, and red wire coming out of the headlight.

IMPORTANT: GTA Retrofits has added dielectric grease to all connections possible and covered them in heat shrink them to prevent all water intrusion. We provide the dielectric grease and heat shrink for you to do the same. These connections are NOT waterproof and MUST be protected. Corrosion adds extra draw on the wiring and will affect the LEDs…negatively. Your warranty WILL be denied if these connections show signs of corrosion with no steps taken to prevent it.

In-App Screens

Download the Blueghozt app from your phones App store and prepare to pair your device with your phone. This only needs to be done once. Begin by connecting your Blueghozt to power, and within 60 seconds, open the app, and it should automatically begin scanning.

(1) If it doesn’t, press the “Scan Again” button near the bottom. Once your Blueghozt has been found, select it, and optionally create a pin, or press skip.

(2) GTA Retrofits will not set a pin on your device. Your device will automatically begin connecting with a status displayed at the bottom left.

(3) If you have more than 1 Blueghozt controller, all paired controllers will be stored in this bottom area. When you open the app at any future time, you will need to select the appropriate controller in the bottom to begin controlling it. Don’t worry, you can rename them for easier identification.

Settings Tab

Starting on the settings tab (gear icon), this is where you can rename your
controller (nickname). The only setting that you will need to worry about
is ensuring LED Type is set to GRBW,
however, GTA Retrofits will have already done this for you.

The next icon, the “Lightning Bolt”, will not be used in
your build. It is reserved for Blueghozt PLUS controllers using the 12V
switch functions.

Neopixel Arranging Panel

This panel will be pre-configured by GTA Retrofits specifically for your
headlights. It is a good idea to take a screenshot of this page for your
records, although these settings should already be saved directly to your
controller.

There are separate tabs for the left output (green wire indicator,
typically the driver’s side headlight) and the right output (red wire
indicator, typically the passenger side headlight).

If you ever need to swap the outputs of your headlights’ turn signals
(for example, a red input wire is connected to the green output wire),
this is where you would make that change.

To swap outputs, deselect the highlighted blue left arrows in each
section and select the corresponding right arrow instead. This will
reassign the output to the opposite side.

You can also enable or disable individual sections for specific
functions. For example, if a projector runs particularly hot, you may
choose not to run the halo as a DRL and instead use it only for show
modes. Sections can also be disabled from operating as turn signals or
participating in show modes.

Modify these settings at your own risk. While changes will not void
your warranty, failing to document your original configuration can make
it difficult to restore complex headlight setups. Depending on the
design of your headlights, reconfiguring the sections can be challenging
for first-time users. If settings are lost or incorrectly changed, GTA
Retrofits can only assist with reconfiguration in person—and we don’t
make house calls.

Vehicle Signaling Panel

While the settings that GTA Retrofits configured here have been saved to
the controller, you are under no obligation to use them. These were simply
the last settings used for testing or video demonstrations, and you are
free to adjust them as needed.

You can customize your turn signal colour, speed, size, and style.
Keep in mind that only amber is legal for front turn signals. Different
styles often look better with different sizes and speeds, so some tuning
may be required. It is recommended to adjust speed while the turn signals
are actively running so the flash rate matches your vehicle properly.

The same customization applies to the Parking Lights tab, where you can
select your preferred style and fine-tune it for your headlights. This
section also controls your startup and shutdown animations.

The Brake Signal tab will not be used.

The icons at the top of the panel indicate which specific input is being
triggered by a 12V source.

Show Modes

What you came for.

This tab will come blank from us, as it is saved locally on your phone.
Press the “+” icon to add show modes, and then modify them to your liking
in the following screen.

You can choose the speed, number of effects, colours, and brightness.
The mode automatically saves when you press back to return to the previous screen.
Repeat this process as many times as needed to build your custom setup.

To run a show, click it once to start and click again to turn it off.
Note that it will override your DRL setting, so ensure it is disabled while
driving on public roads where required by law.

To run multiple shows in sequence, select the “List” icon next to the gear,
then press play.
