GT RGBW Chasing Strips (5v) – Side Emitting
$110.00
The GT RGBW Chasing Strips (Side Emitting) deliver the same proven 5050 SK6812RGBW platform as our flagship strips — with one critical difference. A precision-moulded silicone cover redirects light output 90 degrees sideways, while solid vinyl blocking on the top and bottom eliminates scatter for a crisper, narrower beam. Built for installs where light direction matters.

GT RGBW Chasing LED Strips (5V) | High-Density Addressable Lighting
Most chasing strips fire light in a broad 180-degree arc — great for general glow, less ideal when you need the light to go exactly where you aim it. The GT RGBW Side Emitting Strips solve that with a cleverly moulded silicone cover that redirects output 90 degrees to the side, paired with solid vinyl blocking on the top and bottom surfaces to eliminate upward and downward scatter. The result is a tighter, more defined light line — cleaner in channels, sharper along housing edges, and more controlled in builds where stray light would bleed into the wrong areas. The underlying strip is identical to our standard flagship: same 5050 SK6812RGBW chips, same flex profile, same 5V architecture, same Blueghozt and SP105E controller compatibility. You’re not trading performance for directionality — you’re adding precision on top of it.
Technical Superiority & Upgrades
We have re-engineered our chasing strips to solve common failure points in custom lighting:
- Reinforced PCB Ribbon: Increased thickness reduces kinking and prevents solder pads from breaking during tight installs.
- Upgraded SK6812RGBW Chips: Featuring the latest iteration for superior color blending and long-term reliability.
- Voltage Spike Protection: Integrated dual resistors per 3-LED section manage amperage draw and prevent hardware failure.
- Optimized Flex Rate: Designed specifically for automotive contours, capable of meeting the aggressive curves of a 2004–2009 Mazda 3 headlight.
- Dimensions: Including silicone cover 10mm w x 5mm h, 60mm l (24″)
Reliability Features
- Inline GT Capacitors (Optional Add-on): Controls start-up voltage and data-line noise to prevent “flicker” and protect 5V LED longevity.
- Heat Sensitivity: Built for durability, though we recommend disabling strips when low beams are active to protect LEDs from 150°C+ bulb temperatures.
- Power Management: Optimized for low-drain performance. Note: Like all addressable LEDs, a master switch is recommended if the vehicle sits for 7+ days.
Physical features
Our chasing strips are engineered with a specific “Upward-Firing” architecture to maximize light output while maintaining structural integrity during installation. Our side-emitting strips take this powerful output, and redirect it 90 degrees using a specialized silicone diffuser for clean, crisp output.
- 5050 Top-Firing Chips: The high-intensity RGBW chips are positioned to face upwards; as with our standard GT RGBW Chasing Strips, however, with the use of a clever silicone diffuser, project light in a more focused output. This means that the strips share the same flexibility properties.
- Industrial-Grade Adhesive: The back of each strip is pre-applied with high-bond, double-sided tape designed for the high-vibration and high-heat environment of an automotive headlight.
- Superior Flex Profile:
- Inward/Backward Flex: These strips offer good vertical flexibility, allowing them to follow steep “hills and valleys” or wrap around the back of a projector shroud with ease. The silicone diffuser is slightly stiffer than our standard GT RGBW Chasing Strips
- Lateral Constraints: Due to the reinforced PCB designed for durability, these strips have limited side-to-side (lateral) flexibility.
- Ideal Fitment: Perfect for the aggressive vertical contours of 2010-2013 Mazda 3 headlights.
Installation & Compatibility
- Sold in Pairs: Each order includes two (2) chasing strips.
- Voltage Requirement: Strict 5V DC operation.
- Recommended Maintenance: Apply dielectric grease to all connections and secure with heat-shrink to prevent corrosion.
- Controller Compatibility: Seamlessly pairs with Blueghozt (recommended) and SP105E Bluetooth controllers (sold separately).

Warranty
PLEASE READ OUR FULL WARRANTY,SHIPPING,FAQ PAGE HERE
The product comes with a 1-year warranty. Customers may be required to return the product for it to be inspected before any refund or replacement is issued. The customer may be responsible for shipping (both ways), to begin the warranty process, respond to your order confirmation e-mail.
Warranty Exclusion
Halos installed around halogen bulbs (EXAMPLE PIC) will NOT be warrantied. Halos MUST be installed in front of reflectors/projectors on the front bezel or shroud. Halo JST connections not protected with dielectric grease & heat shrink will corrode, causing excess power draw. Corrosion will deny your warranty.

Parts/Equipment
- A proper soldering station with temperature control is a must, we use this one by X-Tronic, available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B086624LXB/
- The “5 Extra Tips” is what we’re after, although they can be bought separately. We use the Bevel Tip as its larger surface area allows for quicker heat transfer.
-
- Ensure you also have soldering tip cleaner with rosin flux and continuously clean the tip when in use.
- Good solder (Bad solder will ruin your day). We use 2 different thickness solder. – Use max temp of 260c
- MG Chemicals Sn63/Pb37 (No 4865-227g) – 0.032″ Diameter, 22 Gauge, 2.2% Flux – https://a.co/d/09czWki
- We use this to “prep” a pad by tinning it (pre-apply a small amount of solder), to easily accept a connecting wire or in our case a piece of 16 gauge solder.
- MG Chemicals Sn60/Pb40 (No 4898-227g) – 0.065″ Diameter, 16 Gauge – 2.2% Flux – https://a.co/d/9K4pctl
- We use this to connect cut led strips where the distance is very small (under 1/2″)
- Warning: These both contain lead (Pb). It is important to use in a well-ventilated area at worst, with a forced air filter ideally
- MG Chemicals Sn63/Pb37 (No 4865-227g) – 0.032″ Diameter, 22 Gauge, 2.2% Flux – https://a.co/d/09czWki
- Shoe Goo (Yes really) – https://a.co/d/e4qL7br
- Once you’ve tested all your connection (connect to controller, power on, test all colours), apply a small amount to all connections, especially those bridging any sort of gap to help with vibration. Let cure fully. This is also removable later if necessary for repair.
In our product picture above, you can see the 16 gauge wire being used to bridge the 120-degree (ish) angle. It has not yet had Shoe Goo applied to it for a “cleaner” picture.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
- Cold Joint: Appears dull or cracked. Reheat and reapply the solder. (Do not blow to cool quicker)
- Excess Solder: Use a desoldering pump or wick to remove it.
- Oxidized Tip: Clean and re-tin the soldering iron regularly.
A good solder joint is shiny and smooth, without a sharp “peak”. Practice and take note of how long it takes to heat a pad to where it will melt solder. Just like when soldering 2 wires together, you want to heat the contact patch, and then dab the solder onto the pad/wires where it melts by contact with the pad, not the iron. Excess time on the pad could lead to the LEDs being exposed to too much heat and damage them (especially on thinner sk6812rgbw strips).
Addressable LED Information
- Addressable LEDs, as they’re formally known, go by many marketed names, for the most part, they all perform the same functions, with some distinct variables such as whether the led has a dedicated white chip (RGB vs RGBW). It’s important that your supplier (aka us) uses the highest quality components. The addressable industry came about less than 5 years ago, but leaps and bounds have been made in regard to chip quality. A few styles such as WS2811, and WS28212 have been around since the beginning and have been vastly outperformed in many aspects by others such as SK6812rgb(w), which is what we use for our 5V strips. Let’s not forget about important things such as chip count (typically expressed per meter), and fail-safes such as how we added extra resistors on everything strip to prevent voltage spikes from damaging the LEDs. Common Names for Addressable LEDs include; Neopixel, Colorflow, color flow, neoprism, chasing leds, automotive chasing leds.
- Addressable LEDs (the halos and strips themselves) have a small power drain even when off, regardless of the controller selected. If your car is driven daily, this should not affect you. If your car sits for a week+, consider installing a switch on the 12+ wire connecting to the battery (after the fuse).
- Addressable LEDs are sensitive to temperature, especially, say, a 150+ degree bulb. If you’d like to get the longest life possible out of your purchase, consider running your halos/strips only has a drl and have them turn off when your low beam is on.
