Neopixel Power Cutoff Module
Did you know that neopixel LEDs can drain your battery even when they are off? It’s true, an sk6812 LED will use 1mA while it’s turned off. It doesn’t sound like much, but a setup with 500 neopixels will drain over 0.5 amps from your car all night long! The BlueGhozt itself only draws about 0.05A when idle. So the LEDs themselves are a primary contributor to dead batteries.
The BlueGhozt Power Cutoff Module solves this problem by using a relay controlled by the power switches of a BlueGhozt Plus to completely cut off power from your LEDs. This way, the BlueGhozt is always ready to respond to your vehicle’s signals or connections to your phone while also conserving your battery life when your lights are off.
The Power Cutoff module is rated for over 20 Amps of current and also includes a very large bulk capacitor to help stabilize the voltage to your LEDs to help provide consistent brightness and long life. The Power Cutoff module can be used in conjunction with our Neopixel Power Injectors to help distribute power evenly to all of your LEDs.
To use the Power Cutoff module, simply connect the neopixel connectors in-line with your neopixel connections before the first LEDs. Provide always-on power at the power in connector and connect the enable pin to the power switch output of a BlueGhozt Plus. In the app, configure the corresponding Power Switch in the “triggered” mode with all options enabled.
*** Note: This version currently available is PARTIALLY ASSEMBLED. Relay and capacitor come pre-soldered, but soldering is required to attach the connectors to the board.
