Retrofit Warranty Information & FAQ
Condensation
Each headlight we open has additional butyl sealant added to the channel to ensure the best seal. Each OEM* built headlight is warrantied for 6 months for condensation. Minor condensation such as THIS may happen and is normal upon installation for the first few days. Continued use of the headlights and driving your car will dry out the headlights and promote airflow. Should the issue persist or get worse, please get in touch with us. Attempted self (or 3rd party) open & resealing will void your condensation warranty with GTA Retrofits. Headlights that have been previously opened by a 3rd party may not be eligible for any condensation warranty.
To reduce the chance of moisture accumulation, it is recommended that you ship your headlights with your bulbs still in the holder. (It is not always necessary to ship your wiring harness unless specified). The headlights will then be moisture/leak tested with water sprayed on the headlights or compressed air. If you do not send your bulbs, this test may not be able to be completed if the correct bulbs are not on hand.
While they will receive the same resealing treatment, aftermarket headlights are excluded from any type of craftsmanship (excluding parts specifically added by us, e.g. the labour involved in adding a halo) or condensation warranty. Should the lights need to be serviced, there may be an additional charge for labor due to poor quality and inconsistency issues. We determine the eligibility of warranty claims on a per-case basis. If you want our guarantee, please supply original headlight housings.
All headlights come with breather tubes/patches on the backside of the housings. These are one-way patches or curved tubes that allow moist air to exit while driving. If either of these components is exposed to prolonged water exposure, E.G. from removed fender liners, or heavy washing with a pressure washer, your condensation warranty WILL BE VOID. Customers MUST maintain an OEM fender liner should they wish to maintain their warranty.
Accent LEDs
This section pertains to, but is not exclusive to, halos, strips, demon eyes, and led drl boards offered from any brand sold on www.gtaretrofits.com
GTA Retrofits offers many different types of LED accessories that can be installed inside the headlights during a projector conversion, during a custom paint job, or even as a stand-alone option. Heat is the number one enemy of any LED product. OEM LED headlights come prepared with massive cooling fins or electronic fans installed to keep heat to a minimum. Most aftermarket products do not have this type of cooling capacity, and prolonged exposure to heat may cause a LED product such as a demon eye, halo, or strip to fail prematurely. While the products we supply are specifically made to be mounted inside headlight assemblies, they are designed to be universal, and some applications may experience more issues than others. Any color-changing product carries a higher risk of failure when compared to a white/amber switchback product. Colour-changing products such as demon eyes, halos, and strips rely on a color-changing handheld or Bluetooth controller. Bluetooth controllers rely on compatibility with constantly changing mobile phones and software updates that can lead to syncing or connectivity issues.
If you have any doubt about the use of a colour-changing product installed inside your headlights; we recommend against installing it. By asking us to supply and install the color-changing RGB/RGBW/CHASING product, you accept the fact that the product will most likely fail at some time in time.
While the part is covered under manufacturer warranty from 1 year from invoice/pickup date, labour is not! Labour rates will be quoted on a case-by-case basis. These LEDs are “high risk, high reward”. We strive to make this the best experience for anyone and typically cover all costs if failure happens within a month, but customers should expect to cover labor costs typically around $200.
LED Diagnosing and Replacing
In most cases, an LED driver replacement will remedy the issue of a faulty product that does not produce the proper color for example. LED drivers are mounted outside the headlight assembly which will not require the headlight to be opened again. In worst-case scenarios, the demon eye, halo, or strip itself can fail. This would require us to re-open the headlight and replace the defective product.
When installing your headlights, should they have items such as Angel Eyes, Demon Eyes, Strips, or any accessory with a connection to an external driver, it is HIGHLY recommended that the customer apply dielectric grease to the connections and wrap thoroughly with electrical tape to prevent shorting and corrosion, as corrosion due to improper install is NOT a warranty-able item. All retrofit customers will be provided with di-electric grease & heat shrink to complete this task. Failure to do so will void this particular section of warranty. Suppose the customer is not familiar with their car to remove their own bumper/remove their own headlights. In that case, it is also HIGHLY recommended to mount all drivers and controllers in an accessible location for an easy swap. GTA Retrofits can not be held responsible for any 3rd party installation/removal.
The warranty for each individual piece offered can be found in their respective product listing on www.gtaretrofits.com
The customer is responsible for shipping their headlights to GTA Retrofits for repair work, and, case dependent, for return shipping.
Custom Paint
GTA Retrofits painting services are under a 1-year warranty in case of any chipping or flaking. Due to the sealed environment of a headlight, especially in warmer geographical climates; haze on the inside lenses can form over time which is not covered under warranty. If any portion of the main painted headlight housing is directly in front or under the projector, the painted surface may become greasy, bubble, flake, melt, etc., which is also not covered under warranty. This is due to the projector acting as a magnifying glass that concentrates the UV heat and ultimately begins to melt the plastic housing. Most paint requests are for black housings which absorb the heat, as opposed to a chrome or silver housing that reflects it. GTA Retrofits will leave any known points of issue chrome in an effort to prevent this.
Pre-Installed Clear Bra (PPF) & Tint
GTA Retrofits is not responsible for any damage to externally applied PPF or Tint films on headlights that may occur during the baking process. While we have yet to have an issue with the thicker PPF, tint films are thinner and often bubble during baking. It is the customers’ responsibility to remove any films prior to providing us with the headlights should they so choose.
General Retrofit Disclaimer
Depending on the options selected, a retrofit can be VERY intricate with lots of components, and product failures may happen, whether due to extreme heat, cold, or vibration, however, we stand behind what we sell and our warranty. Customers should feel comfortable tapping OEM wires (e.g. tapping turn signal wires), running wires to the car’s battery, swapping led drivers, HID ballasts, and even bulbs from one side to the other. Customers should also feel comfortable removing their bumper as 95% of all vehicles today require the bumper to be removed in order to remove the headlight or even access some components. If you do not feel comfortable installing your retrofitted headlights, please consider contacting a local garage for assistance.
GTA Retrofits is not responsible for any 3rd party shop installation/removal of headlights or wiring.
Due to the large variety of ways some “add-ons” can be wired up, customers may have to purchase their own in-line fuses, add-a-fuse circuits, ring terminals, wiring, and electrical tape. This generally applies if you would like certain led items to be “always-on” with the car, as opposed to running with just your DRL or Parking lights. Knowledge of how to use a multi-meter or volt-meter may be very beneficial to your installation and trouble diagnosis.
Modifying any headlights that have been DOT stamped WILL cause your headlights to be illegal, and depending on the modifications done, fail a Safety Inspection. The customer assumes ALL liability and risk.
The warranty is extended to the original purchaser.

Permasealed Headlights
Some automotive headlights use a permanent sealant between the front clear lens and the back housing to create a permanent bond. This bond provides superior protection against water and debris from entering. However, when it comes to separating the lens from the back housing it creates certain risks that we would like you to be aware of.
The temperatures and the number of times that the headlight is baked are increased to loosen the permanent sealant. This usually requires several rounds in the oven to separate the lens from the back housing. Once separated, the back housing and front lens housing need to go individually to soften the remainder of the sealant. Once the original sealant is fully removed, it is then replaced with our high-quality butyl sealant.
Due to the strength of the original bond, along with the increased times and temperatures, the lights are heated at, some risks are present:
- Edges of the back housing and front clear lens cover may have additional pry marks
- Mounting tabs may tear
- Amber reflectors may become deformed
- Micro-fractures may occur in the front clear lens cover on low-quality lenses due to increased temperatures
- Screws may be used around the housing to hold the lens cover tight to the back housing of the headlight. *Usually necessary in order to keep water and debris from entering the headlight.
On some headlights, we will cut the light open with an Ultra-Sonic cutter to alleviate these risks. The lights will be sealed up with automotive-grade silicone and as long as they are OEM lights, will still be covered by our 6-month condensation warranty. By providing GTA Retrofits with permanently sealed headlight housings you assume all risks stated above.
